Lionel Messi, the Argentine soccer superstar, was threatened by armed men who fired shots at a closed supermarket belonging to his wife's family in Rosario, Argentina.
The attackers left a handwritten message on the ground, stating, "“Messi, we’re waiting for you. Javkin is also a Narco, so he won’t take care of you.”

Rosario is known to have a high murder rate due to the presence of gangs linked to drug trafficking, and clashes causing injuries and deaths are frequently reported in the area. The attack on Messi's family store occurred just weeks before Argentina's two friendly matches in the country.
The matches will be the team's first in Argentina since the World Cup.
